our psychological evaluation process

15 Minute Consultation (Opcional)

We offer a brief 15 minute phone consultation at no cost to the client. The purpose of this consultation is to answer any questions the client may have about our evaluations, overall process, fees and payment, etc.

Intake/Interview

We complete a thorough 50-60 minute interview with the client to gather relevant and essential information needed to determine the type of evaluation that is needed (i.e., ADHD, learning disability, mood disorder, etc.), as well as the length and cost of the evaluation.

Testing

Based on the type of evaluation that will be administered, the client will complete a variety of comprehensive tests that can be administered in-person or completed remotely from the comfort of their home. For those who live outside of the El Paso area, talk to one of our psychologists during the 15 minute consultation about the options and type of testing available for remote services.

Recommendations/Feedback Sessions

Once testing is completed, a detailed psychological report of all testing data will be provided to the client approximately 4-6 weeks after testing has been finalized. This report will include testing scores, diagnostic impressions, and personalized treatment recommendations. The report will be provided to the client during a 50-60 minute feedback session, where the evaluation results and recommendations will be discussed with the client.

Career Exploration Assessments:

A career assessment evaluation is intended to help individuals explore different types of careers, fields, or jobs that may be best suited for them based on their interest, abilities, and personality. This evaluation is a great tool for individuals who are feeling unsure about what career path to follow, are unsure about specific interests they may have, or are feeling stuck or unhappy in their current jobs. This evaluation includes various tests that will assess an individual’s interests, aptitudes, and personality type.

Therapeutic Testing for Understanding Self (Personality testing):

This evaluation is intended for people who are interested in exploring patterns and areas of concern, such as difficulties in relationships, communication issues, etc., and would like to get a better understanding as to why they might be having these difficulties. This evaluation includes personality assessment and other measures to help get a better understanding of themselves. Therapeutic testing is a good tool for those who may be feeling stuck in their therapy or in their lives and are interested in gaining insight into their difficulties and patterns.

Pre-Bariatric Surgery Evaluations:

Most insurance companies require an individual to receive a pre-bariatric psychological evaluation prior to undergoing surgery. The purpose of this evaluation is to address psychological and behavioral vulnerabilities to ensure the surgical candidate is prepared to undergo surgery and help them foster and maintain a healthier lifestyle.

Comprehensive ADHD Assessments:

ADHD affects each person differently, and unfortunately at times, it may contribute to personal and professional difficulties. The purpose of this evaluation is to measure the presence and severity of ADHD symptoms. This evaluation includes assessment of cognitive abilities, academic achievement abilities, attention-related problems, and performance in areas of inattentiveness, impulsivity, sustained attention, and vigilance. This assessment can be beneficial as it can help you identify areas of difficulty, learn how to better manage these difficulties, and can help you get a better understanding of this complex condition and how uniquely it impacts you.

Specific Learning Disorder/Cognitive Testing (Learning disabilities):

Learning disorders are a group of disorders that are characterized by intellectual and adaptive functioning deficits. These may create difficulties for an individual, such as difficulties in learning, using academic skills, mathematical reasoning, processing language, among others. Testing for specific learning disabilities or overall cognitive functioning includes assessing abilities, such as memory, processing abilities, attention, concentration, language, overall intelligence, among other skills. A learning disability evaluation can be beneficial as it can assist in identifying an individual’s difficulties and deficits in functions or skills and help figure out how to address and improve these struggles.

Diagnostic Clarification (Mood Disorders):

Diagnostic clarification evaluations are intended to help individuals identify problem areas and understand how these are impacting their life. Common difficulties include depressive symptoms, anxiety symptoms, and other symptoms. These evaluations are beneficial as they can provide clarity into current problems and difficulties and help provide an accurate and appropriate diagnosis; and eventually help define the best treatment options for the individual.
